Testimony: Mark Erganian
I got the sense that God was up to something.
THURSDAY JANUARY 21, 2010

Through a relationship that I had for many years I realized I needed counseling to help work through some personal problems.

Mark Erganian

I struggled to understand the relationship, which led me to seek answers in the Bible, church, the advice of friends, some Christian counseling, spiritual support groups, and Christian self-help books. Now looking back I can see that God placed someone in my path who talked about Biblical Counseling Center.  Then a year or so later, I was serving at a church in Chicago where someone was teaching on Biblical Counseling.

I got the sense that God was up to something.

Later when I invited a friend to join a men’s Scripture study, he shared his story of transformation through God’s Word as he counseled at Biblical Counseling Center. I could see the Holy Spirit pointing me to a deeper relationship with Him through His Word.  So I signed up for a counseling session, as well as starting the Foundations of Biblical Counseling class.

God has confirmed that the Truth does set you free (Jn 8:31-32).

I realize more and more how broken I am and that I need to lean on God’s understanding, not my own (Prv 3:5, 6) or else my yoke is going to be real heavy (Mt 11:28-30). Now I recognize the continual process of being transformed by the renewing of my mind (Romans 12:2).  Through this I’m learning each day to have more of a childlike faith (Mt 18:1-4).

Now my life is focused on being transformed through a childlike relationship with my Heavenly Father, then to love my neighbor as myself. I’ve learned to first deal with the 4x4 in my own eye; then, other people’s issues appear as a speck. I’m learning to be more humble and childlike knowing I can’t do life on my own.
